Re: [RC] Ultra 100 Endurance Mt. Bike race? - jane switzer

Here is the information on the bike race.  Looks like an awesome event that Jim is putting together.

100 MILE MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE TO LEAVE NO TRACE

The Tahoe-Sierra 100 Mountain Bike Race, promoted by Global Biorhythm Events, will be held at Royal Gorge Ski Resort in Soda Springs, CA on September 6th, 2008. Festivities will include solo and three-person team stage races, food,
eco-friendly vendors, and handmade bicycle craftsmen.
Global Biorhythm Events company motto, In Tune with the World We Play In, will play a huge part in this year?s themed event. Eco-Products, a leader in environmentally friendly food service products, are a proud sponsor. The Tahoe-Sierra 100 will be the only mountain bike event held on this high country race course.
Careful planning began last year, with event promoter Global Biorhythm Events working closely with private and federal land management authorities, to produce a low impact ? no impact event on this treasured land. ?It was important to align my company with Royal Gorge Ski Resort and American River Ranger District, in assisting with the Tahoe-Sierra 100 plan.? said Jim Northey. ?They have core values and experience in protecting the environment.? Global Biorhythm Events director Jim Northey also prides himself as a conservationist and wildlife sanctuary provider through his work with the non-profit Gold Country Wildlife organization. His appreciation for the environment promotes eco-friendly events; ensuring participants get the most of the outdoors by communicating a ?keep it clean, keep it green? message. A portion of the Tahoe-Sierra 100 proceeds will go to the Auburn Ski Club, Western States Trail Foundation (Tevis Cup), Western States Endurance Run Foundation, and IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association), all known for ethical trail conservation.
The Tahoe-Sierra 100 race entry has a cap restriction that will be strictly enforced, in order to maintain minimal impact to the event route. The course will start at Royal Gorge Ski Resort in Soda Springs, CA, the ride will follow existing road segments, looping back to finish at Royal Gorge. Five aid stations, access points for law enforcement, and emergency responder routes have been planned into the venue for the participants benefit.
Race and event information is available at the Global Biorhythm Events website: www.globalbiorhythmevents.com or contact Jim Northey at (530-368-1398).
