No, it's a balance thing.  I've had a couple get this when they get to be around 20.  They can't stand up in the trailer, and will often try to lie down, even when you first start out.  Actually the horse I had the most problems with did end up going deaf, but he showed no balance problems or ear problems other than the trailering in a slant or inline.  I wonder now if he had some type of ear infection...

Ya think it's just heat build up and/or not enough air?  I have an open air slant load for that reason.

We've had some older horses suddenly not trailer well in slants or inline, but they do much better in a stock.  It seems to be a balance thing; maybe inner ear?
