Re: [RC] feeding question - Beth Bliss

Hi Skyla,
I went to a equine feeding seminar.  They explained that the grains were absorbed in the foregut, and the hay in the hindgut.  If you follow the grain with the hay, it pushes it into the hindgut, and decreases optimum absorption.  They gave a good amount of time as being 2 hours after the grain before feeding hay.  Or, feeding your hay first, then giving grain.   So, I feed hay in the AM, grain sometime midday, and hay again at night.
Beth
