Yep...my 14 yr old crewed for me at Desert Gold..a first for him. The experience was wonderful for him. He met new friends, got a ride to the outcheck, played in the water trough, was an imense help! We solved small problems together..worked together, got soaked in the rain together while moving the horse's pen under the trees...and laughed our heads off running back into the camper.

Guess it makes up for all the days of standing on the ski race course when he was racing...!

giggle...spoken like a true non-parent. I was one of those once :-)


Fact is, it is wonderful if/when you can involve your family into your interests. Rides certainly can be enjoyed by the whole family, even the non-horsey types. Having time to adequately condition horses to get to those rides is entirely a different matter ;-p

But don't kid yourself about not incorporating yourself into the lives of your children. That's called Parenting....
