[RC] GPS - Don Huston

Hello Angie,
I don't know if you are having "information overload" yet but let me add some more to it >:-}.
Most GPS units will continue to add mileage to the odometer even when the signal is lost. The unit uses the last bearing and speed and keeps projecting it until the signal comes back.If you are riding under a lot of trees or next to buildings or in a deep canyon and change direction while the GPS has no signal then when you get in the clear the unit will get a real trackpoint which might be way off from the last "projected" trackpoint. That type of error can only be fixed with software and some practice reading the trackpoint info.
The Legend has its sensors in the top and works best in an upright position. The best way to carry it is in a pack up high on your back and just ignore it and ride. I use a small Camelback with a cellphone holster firmly attached to the outside up high to hold my GPS. Works great except for the few times old Dumbcouff has rammed me in the back with his nose and turned the unit off !@#$%!
