Re: [RC] Question for Older Riders - Lynne Glazer

For me it was the *series* of 3 synvisc shots two weeks apart, with the last one done about 2 weeks later my knee felt normal and quit swelling. I'm not sure that people get results with one shot. The third shot was immediately before Tevis, where I hiked to the swinging bridge with all that gear, and it was a bear. Two weeks later and I was convinced I could have done it without the pain and swelling. Had some cranial sacral to undo the 18 months of compensation too.

Your result is what I felt with a single injection of Cortisone, and it didn't do me any good. Works for lots of people though.

I use little quarter-sized dots of "molefoam" on my first metatarsal (ball of the foot) in all my shoes now--Morton's Foot--many of us have the second toe longer than the first and that causes us to bear weight on 2 main points instead of three. We get calluses in the middle of the metatarsals, sometimes a lot of foot cramping too--all gone now. I think having proper support has also contributed to the cessation of knee pain.

YMMV,
Lynne

probably be a good time frame.

I had a Syn-Visc injection once. It felt really weird when they did
it...like my knee was "over full". The next day it felt *great*, but
within no time at all I couldn't tell I'd ever had it. Meanwhile my 300
lb. uncle swore by it so results may vary I guess. What I want now are
inserts for my shoes. I can tell that when I level up my foot (I walk in
the outside edge) that my knee feels better.
