[RC] NASCAR vs Endurance - Lynn White

I have to pipe in on some of the comments made
concerning NASCAR. Most people who think it's boring
are that way because they know NOTHING about it. They
like to believe that NASCAR is something only
"rednecks" participate it. Quite frankly, I am
getting tired of this bigotry. NASCAR has a lot in
common with endurance in respect that people who
participate in both these sports are passionate about
it. There are all kinds of levels of competition from
beginners on small rough tracks to the big smooth
tracks in Vegas. People from all walks of life do
NASCAR. In my area a grandmother was the top points
winner in her division for 2007. It is by no means a
sport relagated to the wealthy. If you ever went to a
NASCAR race you would be amazed at how fast these men
and women drive and the level of professionalism and
strategy involved. NASCAR has sponsorship down to a
fine art. Watching a pit crew on a NASCAR race is
like watching Astaire and Rogers dance. There is
always something to learn from people doing other
sports...now get off those myopic glasses and learn a
thing to two!
