[RC] Loose Reins & Snaffles - Vchorsegal

I really like to get my horses eventually in a tom thumb, low curb, or hackamore, simply so I can use a loose rein & legs  & often have a loose rein. IMHO, a snaffle doesn't usually give enough signal to get the neck reining & stop I like.  I find it takes a very light neck rein & leg to move them over.  Also- I like the fact that I can use a very light hand to stop or rate them, and I don't have to spin them, as in a one rein stop. All in all, it makes for a very pleasurable ride for all of us !  I do like to give them a few extra inches of rein when doing anything technical, as they might need to make a correction in balance faster than I can react.  Happy Trails !!  - Heidi Helly

Remember- if you whisper, they will listen harder- usually !
