But yeah, using things till they break (like zippers and worn out  >
velcro) and then using hay string to keep 'em going, that's > certainly 
an endurance rider characteristic. 

After I walked the elastic strap off the bottom of my 1/2 chaps, an
endurance friend of mine used to fuss at me about the duct tape I wore
around them. At the time I liked it. I put them on, put a couple of
rounds of duct tape around the ankle and they stayed in place better. She
finally couldn't stand it any more and sent me a new pair anonymously
(wasn't real hard to figure it out). Actually, I've had several people
just happen to have a "spare" of something when they got tired of looking
at what I was wearing or using. >g< I think I've been using a double
ended snap to repair a broken running martingale "for the time being" for
around 10 years now. :-))
