Yeah...  I had to run in front of my horse about half a mile during our post-lunch run last weekend.  She just didn't want to go back out on the trail.
 
When I forced her to run to keep up with me, she snapped to and got her game face back on.

The midway point "letdown" is not all physical, it is also psychological: Leaving a perfectly good lunch stop that has great food and people fussing over you seems like a sillly thing to my horse ~ especially if we are leaving without a companion and heading uphill in hot weather! He moves out locked in second gear and looking backward for at least 5 miles.
