[RC] Santa Fe vs Bryce - Tx Trigger

Laura posted: >>>Bryce is over 700 miles away (south westerly). They are in
different regions. Bryce has the option to do one or five days for $85 each
with no moving of camp. Santa Fe has an entry fee of $1950 for a single
rider and you will move camp AT LEAST once a day, sometimes twice. There is
no option to pay by the day---commit to the ten, or ride one through 10, but
the price is the same. If you choose to ride at all, you have to be present
at the start and travel with the ride- if you leave with your horse, you
can't come back--that is a 15 day commitment at very the least.
THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT RIDES. Life is full of choices, pick the one
that suits you.<<<

XP rides in general, generate people who "like" XP type rides. They like the
challenge of riding day after day, be it 5 days, or 10 days. People will
travel great distances to participate in some of these rides.(you should
know that more than anyone Laura) So, the rides being "700 miles apart",
and in different regions is how I am sure, they will justify giving it
sanctioning, even over an established ride with the same date. And yes,
riders will make choices. But you know Laura, that people skipped Bryce this
year to participate in the GSFR. And, I'd bet if they had not over lapped
the little bit they did, that some of those riders would have attended BOTH
rides, because they like multi day rides. Being able to ride the days one
wants, or a fee for the whole event does not matter to those who really like
multi day rides.

Fuel costs are going to put a HUGE damper this next year on all rides. But
given the option of traveling to a 1 day ride, or a ride that you can get
more days for the cost of travel, I think we will see an increase in riders
wanting to go and ride more than one day. Yes, life is full of choices, but
why MAKE them choose, just because they are not in the same region, and "700
miles apart".

I'm sure the sanctioning committee will make what they feel is the right
decision......

Jonni (who's idea of common sense is often different than others)
