I have a theory about the violence.  What I think is that because so far
fewer people live on farms where butchering is done or live a lifestyle
where they hunt and actually kill game, they don't really understand that
dead is dead, that when you shoot a deer, there's blood and if you don't get
a good shot, there's suffering.  On the screen, TV or computer, it's messy,
but sterile.  No one actually gets blood on his hands or smells entrails as
they're removed.

I'm from a family of game hunters and I don't particularly appreciate the
"sport" of it, but I suspect none of them will ever go into a school armed
and violent. The TV is just this minute reporting another school shooting in
Miami.
