My guess is that when Regis Philbin was in the 5th grade, there weren't TV 
and movies slathering violence all over the place, so kids get the idea that 
this is the norm.  Same to be said for violent computer games.  What's with 
this violence thing, anyway?  I don't understand the lure.  At least when I 
was a kid, the "violence" was in the westerns, and they were fairly benign. 
Furthermore, what one hears on the radio isn't as graphic as what one sees 
on the screen.  I remember the shock and horror when I first saw the movies 
"Bullitt" and"Bonnie and Clyde."  As I remember, these were the first really 
violent movies on the screen.
