Re: [RC] [RC] Rein recommendations needed - Crysta Turnage

Griffin's Tack is doing Beta reins with a lacing woven through them (kind of like a long shoe lace).  A lot of people out west here seem to like them.  They won't get wet and soggy like rope reins and won't shrink over time and repeated washings either.  The lacing tends to give them that little extra grip, but they're still nice on bare hands.  He'll do just about any color combination you could ask for, and custom length as well.

Hi all,

I moved from SoCal to hot humid Florida last year, and I've finally
succumbed to the reality that I can't keep riding with my plain
beta-biothane reins in this humidity.  My reins become so slick with
sweat that they keep running through my hands, which is no fun when
Shahtahr is in the mood to go, and I am not.  :)

I thought I'd just look for plain old rope reins with slobber straps on
the ends for safety, but when I looked on some of my favorite on-line
endurance tack stores I realized there are quite a few other options out
there.

Any recommendations on reins that won't get slippery?   I see some that
have rubber grips, beta grips, plain rope, etc.   What's best?  Seems
like the beta grips might still get slippery, even with the little
bumps.... ?

I don't like really fat reins, but some with a little more thickness
than my current thin beta reins might be easier on my hands.

Thanks for any ideas!

Jennifer and Shahtahr (who are finally doing their first SE ride in
November!  It's a CTR though...but at least it's a RIDE!)
