Fwd: [RC] re: ride vs. race - Cindy Collins

Well, out of 8,000+ miles of endurance competition, I imagine less than 1,000 miles of that had a treatment vet?separate from the regular ride vet.? Guess that means I don't care about my horse.

Every time I hear someone say that the AERC needs a new rule requiring vet
checks every so many miles and a certain numbers of vets and a designated
treatment vet on site, I just shudder.? I agree that they are needed in
certain situations, but NOT in all and I believe that requiring them will
destroy something precious and irreplaceable for many of us.?

While I'm with you on the vet checks, though I think it's less risky to have
them more often, I can't see _requiring_ them at some set distance, I don't
think it's in anyone's interest to not have a treatment vet. I don't think
I've ever seen a ride in the NW without one. The something precious and
irreplaceable that I'm concerned about is named Laser.
