I'm not sure I have ever heard anyone propose "requiring" vet checks at certain distances (except for the OD see below). I have heard people suggest that there should be at least two in a 50 mile ride. Yes the logistics can be difficult.

I believe, however, that all OD sponsored rids have a required vet check on more than five miles from the finish.

Personally I have never done a one vet check 50. I'm not sure I have any desire to do one.

uh - not to be the pragmatic idiot here, but wouldn't that prove to be somewhat difficult logistically at pretty much ANY ride? Just wondering...
