Re: [RC] Fun vs Competition - D'Arcy Demianoff-Thompson

Maryanne,

You are absolutely correct. There isn't any reason
that Fun and Competition can not be one in the same.
What I was trying to communicate is how we 'join' an
organization and what we expect out of the governing
body. I may have lost that thought in my
communication.

Very interesting about Scrabble and Bali. My family
did the same! And it was fun and it was great whether
you beat the pants off someone or not. I loved trying
to use all of my letters and hit two triple word
scores. I have done that once in my life...flippant
over the top of the word 'or'. The pinnicale of my
success. LOL.

Therefore, yes, I want to see fun and competition at
rides. I don't want it to be at the expense of any
horse. And I want to see all of my friends doing the
same thing. And I don't want to see the organization
that I have joined reinvent their wheel to 'ease' the
socioligical implications! I personally feel we are
raising a country full of whiners with this type of
philosophy! Kid falls off a horse and the parents sue
for wreckless endangerment..hence liability waivers
they have to sign stating this is a DANGEROUS sport!
What did the kid learn? How to get back up on the
horse of life when you have fallen off? Probably not!
