Re: [RC] Coolback vs Woolback Pads - Drin Becker

"Can anyone give their impressions on Toklat woolback and coolback pads. How
well they work and compare?"

On my mare I found that the woolback pad irritated her back , since wool has tiny little barbs on it , it was enough to catch on her hair follicles and therefore irritate them . She is the only horse though that I have ever had that had a problem , I switched to using a coolback pad only on her and the problem went away . On my current horse and many others I have used both the woolback and the coolback pads and like them both . I have never had any slippage problem with either type of pad and the Toklat pads seem to last forever , just getting better and better with use .For some reason neither my mare and my current gelding will tolerate my Dixie Midnight pad either . I used on many different horses with great results but not on these two .
