Rule 1. Never put out your hand or arm to "catch the ground" as you hit, the result will be a broken collar bone and surgery.
Rule 2. Roll by tucking one arm under you as you are about to hit. This allows the spin of the roll and your back to take the most
energy from the sudden stop of the ground. It is also better to hit your back on the ground than your face or head.
Rule 3. Helmets, Helmets Helmets.


I learned the above from riding off road motorcyles in my youth and you crash a bunch doing that. Next I went into the triathlon/road bike
world and their are two types of bike riders, those who have crashed and those who will crash.


By the grace of God, no surgeries from a myriad of different type of falls although I have had two helmets cracked open and concussions.
