RE: [RC] [RC] sponge and sinker - rides2far@xxxxxxxx

I won't put anything metal on my sponge. When I snap it up to my hand I don't
want it hitting my hand, and when I rub it down the horse's neck I don't want
it scratching him. I took the velcro loop off of a leg wrap and sewed it around
one of my sponges to hang it from the breastcollar with, but I've been through
so many now and I don't wear out leg wraps often enough to have good velcro. I
seldom put my sponge up long enough to need a fastener. I just tuck it in the
front of my saddle till I need it (the loop stays on my arm).

Honestly, if you *use* your sponge, getting it wet before the ride will keep it
sinking. Mine never dried in Arizona.

I put the snap down at the sponge end, about 6 inches up, with a loop in the
middle & the other end. The snap acts as a sinker, then you can clip the
middle and end loop into it & attach to the saddle.

Possibly a wonderful idea. I also loved the advice from Angie and Mr.
Prevatt. I am going to go down to the barn now and attach a sinker to my
sponge
and sink it in the water trough now. Thanks
