Re: [RC] beet pulp - jamie ward

One of the vets at the clinic we use doesn't like beet pulp because of the amount of sugar in it
so that's the only negative thing i have heard about it

I read in Nick Warhol's ride story (congrats Judy!) that he specifically didn't use beet pulp in Dawn's mash.  I also have heard 2nd hand info that two vets didn't recommend beet pulp.  Why?

Is it because recently it is harder to find it without molasses?  Didn't it used to come without molasses?  And if it has it, can't it simply be drained off after soaking?

It seems I used to hear the praises of beet pulp as opposed to bran, my dusty memory seems to recall something about bran having too high a phosphorus level and that beet pulp was more like forage?
