[RC] Endurance events test new ideas - rides2far

(FEI) overhaul of endurance is in full
swing,> with six working groups now assessing the rules and a
successful
trial> of a "Formula One" finish.

As I recall the ones from Europe that posted on here about it said
something along the lines of that being "a travesty" and wanted no part
in credit for it.

The vast growth in the sport, at all
levels,> and a number of equine deaths in recent years led to the
World> Endurance Forum in Paris this spring, at which an overhaul of the
sport> was agreed.

What an interesting way to make things *safer*...encourage higher speeds,
insist on very fast qualifying rides, punish anyone who backs off in
competition, sanction management for punishing positive drug tests, and
have fewer vet checks...why didn't WE think of that???

Three trial events have taken place so far: a scientific> study of
endurance horses in Dubai; a trial in Portugal using four> vetgates
instead of five;

If this works seems like having "0" vet checks would be the ultimate in
safety!

If adopted, it will have another name, but the trial had
very> positive feedback," said Mr Williams.

Where are the links to the articles with the positive feedback? Who liked
it?

"We will need to trial this
style> of finish over 160km to get a full picture."The last trial, of
120km
for a championship (normally 160km), will take place at the Pan>
American Games in Brazil next week.In June, 18

So they dropped the distance too? May they drown in liquid manure.

experts were > appointed
to review six different areas of the sport:

qualification,

Faster CEI's right?

organisation,

Management should ignore drug tests!

equine protection

Hit them with fluids after every ride. Anyone ever kept track of how many
of those horses get jugular scarring?

, education,

Let me guess, a pamphlet for people with excessive money to buy a string
of made endurance horses and run the **** out of them for god and
country!

legal controls

How thick is that pamphlet...I'll be the list of those whose punishments
have stuck would at least....fill up a postage stamp!

and> competition structure.

I feel sick.

Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they
bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.
