[RC] 20 MULE TEAM - FORWARDED FROM ROBERT AND MELISSA - Merryben

The 26th annual Twenty Mule Team 35, 65 and 100 mile Ride on February 3 in Ridgecrest, CA should be a great ride for all!  We have unique and special handmade completion awards made by a local artist that you will be sure to enjoy.  Monogrammed blankets will be presented for the horse excellence award on the LD and for first place, best condition and first junior on the 65 and 100.  We will also be presenting special weight division awards as well as team awards.  So join up with some friends and join a team!  The Friday evening, Saturday evening and Sunday morning meals will be deliciously catered and the camp has real restrooms with hot showers.  There is plenty of parking and camping room for large rigs.  The veterinary staff will be:  Dr. Melissa Ribley, Dr. Fred Beasom, Dr. Dave Nicholson, Dr. Kristen Mason, Dr. Mike Tomlinson and a specially invited veterinarian all the way from England.  The trail will bring you through the scenic Mohave desert with views of the eastern Sierras.  The footing will be excellent with very few rocks and no hard packed roads.  The footing is on firmly packed sand and the weather is typically dry in the desert (even when it is pouring rain and storming up north!)   The trail is well marked and very safe for inexperienced horses.  The 35 is a nice introduction to longer LD’s for those of you considering a 50 while the 65 is a nice transition for those of you thinking about doing your first 100 or even training for a 100.  The 100 mile ride is great for first time 100 mile riders as it is technically simple (no cliffs, bogs or major water crossings) and the moon will be shining full and lighting your way at night.  So come on down and join us at one of the greatest rides in the west!
