FW: [RC] A horse's first competitive ride - Jim Holland

I don?t normally do CTR.
I normally use a 50 for my horse?s first competitive ride.

Caveat:
?? I have no intention of finishing that 50.? A 50 gives me more time to
?train? my horse to deal with all that excitement and a crowd of horses.?
How I do depends on THAT horse and how he reacts.?

Sunny completed his first 50 (and his first ride) and Top Tenned his second
one. Al that stuff was a ?Ho Hum? to him.

Magic was a ?basket case? at his first ride (Leatherwood) and didn?t
finish.? I just quit when he and I both got tired of ?Training?.

Every horse is different.? If I decide to compete Wiedy, I may do some CTR
first?again because of his ?mentality?.

Subject: [RC] A horse's first competitive ride

It was interesting reading Jay?s information about Australia?s system for
qualifying a horse to ride endurance.

Here?s a poll:
- How many of you use CTRs to introduce a horse to competitive rides?
- How many use the LD for a new horse?s first competitive ride?
- How many use the 50 for a horse?s first competitive ride?
