The flying pace is nothing like the pace I am speaking of. I know what the Icelandic Flying Pace is and we are definitely not talking the same gait at all.

Not true, The Icelandic has the 5-gaited horses which have the Flying Pace. 
They are not supposed to travel in a regular pace while riding though.  If a
horse starts traveling in pace, it seems to hard-wire into their brains and
near impossible to get rid of.
