Just out of curiosity...is his sire the Arab or the RMH?

 

Oh - I just remembered a 7th half-gaited horse...another Arab/TWH, also with the TWH as the dam.  This one doesn't gait.  I don't know if they've every tried to get him to gait or not.

My Arab x Rocky Mountain Horse foxtrots, but only because he's BUILT for it and
because after I bought him at 6yo I walked walked walked him as fast as he
would go until his "four beat muscles" and muscle memory were built up.  Then
he developed a foxwalk (slower than foxtrot) and foxtrot.  He does not foxtrot
in the field for more than a few strides, but he will do it under saddle.  Most
of the time we choose to do a hard trot though.

Half-gaited horses are a crapshoot.  You're just as likely to get something that
isn't built for ANY intermediate saddle gait as you are to get something that do
any number of intermediate gaits (one or more than one)!  Gaited horse owners
are frequently heard to say "if you want gaited, buy gaited, don't breed hoping
for gaited."
