[RC] Tevis, Eastern Horses - Paul Sidio

I was looking at this years Tevis entry list and noticed that at least 7 horses that were at the Old Dominion ride this year are planning to trek west a few thousand miles. They include four of the Top Ten 100 mile horses, one other 100 mile finisher, one that pulled RO, and one that completed the 50 mile ride (which may have been harder) . Isn't this well above the normal numbers that try this?  John Crandell III and Heraldic must have inspired a few folks.

The Tevis website posted a warning yesterday that fire danger may cause ride cancellation this year. Is that normal?  For those who live in Cool California, it would be a bummer and a disapointment. For those of us who have to leave a week or two early and travel several thousand miles to get there it would be heartbreaking. (plus expensive)... Any ideas on what the chances of cancellation are? What are you hearing from the Forest Service?
