I went back to the USEF rules to see what was already approved. This is a link to understand better the USEF drug rules: http://www.usef.org/documents/drugsMeds/2005Advice.pdf

 

As you can read there, Dexamethasone, Bute and other NSAIDs (“diclofenac liposomal cream , phenylbutazone, flunixin

meglumine, ketoprofen, meclofenamic acid, naproxen, and eltenac (upon its approval by the FDA). Phenylbutazone

and flunixin are not permitted to be present together in the animal’s blood or urine sample.”) were already approved to be used in a limited way. All they are doing is adding one more NSAID to their list, as it gets launched.

 

The discussion on these rules is a valid one, but it is not restricted to this new drug.
