This reminds me of what the Reverend Martin Niemoeller said after WWII. "Then they came for the homosexuals, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a homosexual." The time to protest isn't when they have YOU by the throat. The time to protest is when they FIRST do an injustice. In this case, the injustice is to the horses not in our discipline. Those animals will be forced to compete with injuries that would normally be so painful as to cause the horses to perform badly. Killing the pain doesn't cure the injury and without the pain to tell the horse to be careful, it might well exacerbate its injury. At the very least, it can, as Bruce pointed out, interfere with the healing process to a disastrous extent.
