To get an idea of going 'back' to some time of some sort of shangrila.... 
take a one way trip to a 3rd world country... no phones, no tv, no electric, 
carry the water you need, go to sleep at dark and awaken at dawn, etc.

Actually, it can be done if  you take off to a very remote part of some 
states.  We do have the luxury to choose our modern conveniences here in the 
US.  Many people do not.    I do like my modern conveniences but I also 
believe those things can be done with less negative impact on our 
environment.  EVERYONE needs to reduce excess waste and increase the 
recyclables.

There was a program on TV about a family that came illegally to US and put 
about 4 kids thru USA colleges recycling our alluminum cans from the 
dumpsters.............. think about it..........
