Not quite yet, but soon. When the technology
is developed a bit more, we can then use the corn for food (human and animal)
and the corn stalks and other biomass for ethanol. Then you don't have to
count the fertilizer etc. with the ethanol because you are using stuff that used
to just rot in the soil. As far as the global carbon dioxide balance goes
it makes no difference if the corn stalk is burned as ethanol in a car or eaten
by a soil bacteria.
