Re: [RC] What's in a Name (was: 'Grand Prix' style, etc.) - John Teeter

As I mentioned to steph, this was the PERFECT ride for the habitual turtle. A 21st place finish could have been achieved by starting at 7am with everyone, and leisurely strolling through the first 33km loop. This loop went right through the center of town. A coffee shop, bistro, lunch ... a bit of visiting etc. and one could have still been on the first loop when those nasty first to finish guys came across the line. I would have then been stopped at my next (first:) gate and given last place. piece of cake -- hey, I could have had that, too, on my stroll through town:)

(of course, it's REALLY hard to go that slow - @3km/hr or so ... I doubt that my horse would be too stressed though as there looked to be quite a lot of forage along the trail)

for clarity's sake, the competition was not stopped 30 minutes after the first finisher. Any rider that was still on course was allowed to finish that loop. From the results, there's a 90 minute time difference between first and last riders to cross the finish line. Riders that were on loop 6 rode to the finish and stopped. Riders that were on loop 5 rode to vetgate 5 and stopped.
