Re: [RC] What's in a Name (was: 'Grand Prix' style, etc.) - k s swigartFrom: "John Teeter" <johnt@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> actually, I think it's "formula one" style - named after the procedure used on F-1 auto racing ... That is a name that makes more sense. Personally, I don't have a problem with using the method for endurance races; although I do think that if they are going to use the method, that all competitors that don't make the cut-off time (finish within 1/2 hour of the first place horse) should be listed as DNF. As opposed to horses that don't pass vet checks, which should be listed as DSQ. I would be only too pleased to have an additional distinction between endurance riding and endurance racing so that everybody could just accept that they aren't the same sport...at all...and get on with it. If I were in an edurance race and more than 1/2 hour behind the first place horse, I would just stop anyway, whether they made me stop or not. But then, I don't participate in endurance racing, so what do I know? kat Orange County, Calif. :) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
