Have an OPEN division, for which one must "qualify", then have the rest of us in an Endurance Riding division, where one must show up and complete
Yes we have covered this a few times, and the bottom line is that by definition of the organization itself, it is what it is. If what it is is not suitable to someone's desire, they are free to go build their own organization to do what they like - it is a free country. If the org needs minor tooling to help it function better as it grows, etc., that is another issue - but a complete re-definition of the group, org and sport - that is quite an undertaking, and not one to be selected by anyone except the entire membership. I don't know which came first, ride and tie, endurance in its present form, CTR, whatever - but I do know that garnering an organization that suits the needs of the few by hijacking the platform of the many is not right. Go build a new org or whatever but telling thousands of people now that you must choose one of the new layers of competition because some people thought it was a good idea is neither democratic nor is it in keeping with the roots of endurance. After all, in that marathon format, it does not MATTER whether you walk, run or skip on you hands so long as you complete - unless of course you want that new car and all that money:). Most people I ride with love their tee shirts - and their happy horses.
