Re: [RC] 'Grand Prix' style finish is not endurance - Truman PrevattDon Huston wrote:Grand Prix is not endurance nor is a Grand Prix style finish an interesting concept. That type of finish automatically eliminates this flat track style horse race from being an endurance race. The only thing about this horse race that in any way resembled endurance as I have experienced it was the distance and the idiotic grand prick finish got rid of that. Riders 14-20 did not earn a final time at Gate 5, they got pulled. This type of event has been proposed before by FEI in a few guises. The first time I heard about such a concept was after the PAC in Vermont where the proposal was to end the race after the first 10 finishers. That is if you were on course after the 10th rider finished - you stopped at the next vet check. All these concepts have one thing in common. To end the event faster and make it more viewer friendly. FEI endurance is not about finishing - it is about winning. That also implies that they are moving away from the current "team concept" since stopping the race will significantly change the team scoring.
