I occasionally tell the story of my husband's horse who thumped and colicked 
on a ride.  Lud DID NOT override the horse, but the horse simply was one who 
refused to drink enough water.  My husband finally gave him to a lady for a 
pleasure horse because of that refusal to drink enough.  Oddly, the horse 
was a fine and successful endurance horse for the first several years of his 
career.
