Debbie, According to AERC rules, an LD ride is 25 to 35miles long, thus, the shortest, is 25. You have 6 hours to complete a 25 mile ride MINUS your hold times. If you have a 30 min hold, then you 5:30 available ride time.

If you go to www.endurance.net and look under the newbies section, you'll find a lot of good information and a list of potential mentors by state.
