Re: [RC] [RC] Hopeful prospect? HELP! - Dawn Carrie

Hmmm...$5000 is pretty pricey for a 4 yr old that you'd be starting from scratch with, doing long slow distance to leg up.  Even if you do a "trade" you're still paying $5000...maybe only half in cash, but the other half is in the value of whatever you're trading.  I'd also look more into why she's crossfiring...maybe it is just a chiro issue.  Then again, a friend has a mare who crossfires when cantering sometimes, and it doesn't seem to bother her when trotting, so?

If you are really set on this horse, get your OWN vet to do a vet check.  They say the vet check is included in the price, and they are eager to bring her half way to meet you.  That kinda sends up red flags.  So if they're willing to pay for a vet check, then maybe have them bring her to an endurance ride, and have them pay one of the endurance vets to do a vet check on her.  But don't rely on a vet check that they have done by their vet...have it done by a vet you choose, with you there to watch.
