Re: [RC] Weight Percentage Study by A Non Professor !! - Beth Walker

I'm not a professor either :), but I'll stick my 2 cents in again.??

I agree with you, and I do think that the rider weight - horse weight has to have *some* effect.? In the end, I think it is the sum of everything:? what condition the horse is in, how much extra stores are on board (the condition score), how big a load he is carrying, plus how efficiently he is carrying it, heart size/efficiency, cannon bone ratio -- there are lots and lots of variables.? All of them have an effect, and none of it is going to help if the attitude isn't there.

Hi Kat & all-
? I don't remember where I read it, it was years ago.? It's not just the ability to carry weight, it's the structure also. Many of us have had short, stocky, well boned, short-backed weight carrying arabs.? It may be a different story if the hooves are weak, bone is fine, back is long, etc. And then there is the "X" factor that no one can really predict that is a zest for the sport !?If you have a chance to choose, why not choose a likely prospect ? ?- Heidi Helly, not a professor !!
