Re: [RC] [RC] The Price of Gas - Carla Richardson

In February, regular unleaded gas was $2.08 a gallon here.  Now it's $2.96 a gallon, less than 3 months later.  That puts my scrawny little budget into a bind.  My luxuries are my horses, I admit it.  I don't do pedicures/manicures, dining out, vacation trips, etc., but I do spend a LOT on hay, and my farrier (who just upped his prices again)!

Diesel here is more expensive than gasoline, sometimes as much as 25 cents more per gallon.  This has had a major impact on any businesses that depend on the trucking industry - and it makes most of what we buy cost even more.  Does anyone else remember when diesel was about 5 cents a gallon and gas was about a quarter a gallon? <G>  Oh, and the main reason that gas is so much more in other countries is the taxes they put on gasoline (just like here... taxes make up a big chunk of those high prices, it's not ONLY the oil companies profits, although their huge profits stand out like a sore thumb).

As far as who's to blame for high prices?  We all are.
