Re: [RC] Barefoot saddle - Sharon LevasseurI use a BFC on a horse with good withers and a slightly prominent spine. I use a Skito pad with 100% wool fleece underside, and a double-elastic girth lined with 100% wool fleece. I tighten the girth pretty darn good... not the tightest hole I possibly could, but close. I live in an area of Maine that has hills but not mountains. I use a breastplate, and added a crupper last year for safety's sake because my hubby was riding while I walked behind, and I noticed that he rode crooked enough that the saddle was really tilted. (He has hip problems that make him off balance. He only rides like once a year, for only about 20 minutes, so it's not a big deal.) I added the crupper just in case I ever got really off balance going over/across something. Anyway... it works great for me. This combination keeps everything in place, on MY horse, on the steepest of up/down hills. Your mileage may vary!! -Sharon L. Quoting Cindy Rodd <crodd22@xxxxxxxxxxx>: HI, I recently bought a Barefoot Cheyenne saddle, and tricked it out with an Equipedic pad, which I love, and a full wool cover, which I love. The saddle itself is quite cushy, but it seems to move around...alot. I have started putting one of those little non slip squares under the Equipedic, but am worried about heat buildup. If I didn't use a breast plate, I think the saddle would slide right off of my horses rump on these Vermont hills...kidding, but it rolls and slides. Has anyone else had these experiences with a Barefoot, or any other treeless saddle, and what did you do to remedy the problem? Thank you, Cindy _________________________________________________________________ Exercise your brain!
