Re: [RC] Endurance horse/rider sizes - Chrystal WoodhouseI'm around 180 lbs with all my tack ( my treeless saddle is AT least 50 lbs of that weight ;-)) and my horse that I have rode for the last 5 years in long distance is a 14,2 Morgan, I do work really hard at riding well and balanced ( at least until I get tired, then all bets are off :-)) & have had no major issues with her. My husband rode my favorite horse once in a 50-miler and placed second by only a squeak. Courage was 14.2, weighed 780#, and my husband was 5'10", weighing about 170#. He rode an English saddle, which kept the weight down, but still...he must have tacked up at about 185-190#. Small horses do not necessarily translate to not being able to carry weight.
