Re: [RC] [RC] GPS - Ranelle Rubin

If the river is safe to cross..I want to know!

Ranelle and MMF Felarof..(ready to start training on the Tevis trail)

BTW..if anyone wants to come ride the Tevis trail with me between now and July 28, come on..! I have room for your horse at my boyfriend's, and he has offered to drop us off and move my rig..what a guy! We might even get him to ride backwards with COLD BEER!

If you live far away and want to fly out to check it out, let's talk as I do have a great in shape mare. She is rather touchy..read: watch your leg on her unless you mean it!, but safe otherwise.

Hello Kathy,
When Dave said he rode from Hwy49 to a mile past Poverty Bar and then didn't say that he rode back to where he started I assumed (that dangerous word) that he made a oneway ride across the river and up to the highway to the north and was picked up by whomever dropped them off at the 49 crossing. I have done several such oneway rides (not on the Tevis trail tho) and that's why I also added "If that is what you rode". If it wasn't then his GPS was definitely not doing something right.

I'm a bit confused. When you are traveling to Auburn from Poverty Bar after crossing the river, the next stop is Lower Quarry, then you travel along the Quarry Rd to Hwy 49. I don't see how the "River Crossing up to the Hwy" and another 2 miles fit in there.

The Tevis Trail Map shows Poverty Bar river crossing to the Quarry as 5 miles, then only another 2 miles to No Hands Bridge, which is on the other side of Hwy 49.

Kathy

I have never ridden the trail you just rode (pulled at Francisco's) but Tom Noll made a GPS track of Tevis 2006 and I have some distances for you. Hwy49 to Lower Quarry = 1.3mi. Lower Quarry to Poverty Bar (River Crossing) = 4.8mi. River Crossing up to the Hwy = 2.0mi. If that is what you rode then the posted mileage is correct...8.1mi.
