[RC] [RC] Peanut hay - Patti

Wondering if anyone knows anything about Peanut hay?

Went down to a ride. A 2 day 75 in Georgia. The pow wow in Feb.

They had peanut hay at the water troughs. At first the horses weren't  really
interested but then really got to liking it!

I wonder how this hay compares to timothy/alfalfa?

Can't get it up here in PA. But I thought it would be neat if I could get a
hold of some to take to rides as a little *treat*.

You can check it out and compare at the DairyOne Feed Composition Library -
Protein and energy/calories similar to grass hays, calcium in the middle of alfalfa averages
(and really low phosphorus and magnesium - a consideration if you feed very much).
