Re: [RC] Million Pines ride - Sharon Levasseur

Good heavens, I wish I lived near GA!!!

Quoting "rides2far@xxxxxxxx" <rides2far@xxxxxxxx>:

Anyone know anything about the Million Pines ride in
GA next month? Am new to the SE region and want to go,
but want to know more about the terrain, etc.....thanks!

Charlene

It's the best of EVERYTHING. Most wonderful family, hosts ride in wonderful
little town
where the 2 cops (whole force probably) spend the day stopping traffic for
horses to pass,
the ladies of the church cook the most fantastic ride meal, hot dogs the
night before,
relaxed, extremely well run, marked rediculously well, all the best vets
(they don't want to
miss it either). The trail is flat to rolling, sand, but not deep at all,
lots of hardpacked sandy
roads. Juniors ride free, local craftsman builds a beautiful tack trunk for
BC, great awards,
everybody stays and visits and in the evening they take walks around the lake
out back with
their horses. If there's any ride I like to use to introduce a new person to
endurance it's this
one. It shows them what a fun ride is like. It's not one of those you want to
prove you lived
through, just one you want to go to and enjoy good company.

They do have a high pull rate but it tends to be lots of people's first ride
of the season,
fairly warm and many haven't clipped. There's a few exposed roots in the
woods they can
ding theirselves on if you don't slow down for them.

Angie McGhee (see ya there)
