[RC] Core Temps ( Won't hurt?) - John Teeter

There were discussions in MAS (primarily focused on the thoughts of Peter Toft) about the role that the core body temp, ambient temp/ humidity, and cooling ability of the horse. Thoughts being that there may be situations where the ambient context of a competition may drastically alter the possible competitive nature of an event (i.e. in some places you just can't go as fast b/c the horse is not capable of cooling themselves effectively in those contexts). The core body temp starts to go up and metabolic distress follows.

Not related to electrolytes, but necessitating extremes in cooling to occur more frequently or significantly slowing the overall competition speed.
