IMO we see far more problems from overuse of e-lytes than from underuse.  More and more top riders are not giving e-lytes, or are giving way less e-lytes than they used to.

Mostly I can't really see why it is necessary or advisable to be  
giving electrolytes to a conditioned horse doing an LD. Seems totally  
unnecessary. (Keeping in mind that steph just did a 120km in Kedah  
MAS w/o giving any electrolytes. )

Is there really a reason to give them as a mater of course, or only  
in the extreme conditions of speed, heat, humidity, etc?
