RE: [RC] Finished/ Fit to Continue - heidi

Every event has to have a defined end point.  And ours is the fit-to-continue exam.  If the horse is treated after that end point, for him the ride is already over and he is being treated outside of ride time.
 
A part of me would really like to see all horses treated within a certain time frame be disqualified--but I bow to the rationale that if a horse NEEDS treatment, he should not be denied that treatment just because his human's ego doesn't want to lose the completion.  So I do support this rule as it stands.

The AERC rule is pretty clear - after the completion exam the ride is
over. If you want to give your horse bute - have at it. If your horse
starts to colic - get it treated. For you the event is over.

See rule 6.2.1.1. ..... Once a competing equine has passed the post-ride
examination, it may not be removed from completion for veterinary reasons.
