[RC] Standing Canter - k s swigart

Nik Isahak Abdullah said:

Someone last week posted a question on whether at the
trot majority sit ,post etc etc. As an extrapolation of the
question ,what do majority do when cantering?

At a ride, I do very little "sitting" of the canter. I only do so if I
want to use my weight as an aid to slow down the horse. Otherwise, I
come up out of the saddle just enough to get my ass off of it. It isn't
what I would call standing either, since to me, standing means bearing
my weight on my feet. I distribute my weight along the entire inside of
my leg from inner thigh to mid-calf (depending on the size of the horse)
with a small amount also in the feet.
