Re: [RC] The Great Santa Fe Trail Horse Race/Thanks - Jody Rogers-Buttram

Angie,
I have it figured out now.  You have the same "basic" personality as my mother.  Where she pinches, strives for less and does without heat/AC, lights, etc.  in the elusive hunt for the "incredibly low electric bill".  You do the same in terms of endurance camping.  See, dear ole Mom has PLENTY of money, but she lives alone now in her 70's, with just her dogs and sheep and my old endurance horse, so she entertains herself with the "electric bill game".  It is a challenge each month to beat the former record.  YOU do the same thing with camping.  It is a challenge to see if you can do without MORE at a ride.  So, I don't understand why you would be so much against the riding Solo at the OD 100 ?   :))

There's always this year to do it.

Jody

PS.  Mom's dogs live in a heated/AC Kennel with a TV.   Go figure.

OK, I think I've found the one person who might not mind how simply I
camp...but then again lots of times I don't have a table. :-)) For most
rides I pull a basic 2 horse trailer, drag the mats out the back and set
up a couple of cots for daughter & me in back of the trailer. Since I
backed the top corner of my trailer into a tree limb a long time ago it
leaks when it rains so bring a garbage bag to go over the end of your
sleeping bag. If I'm alone I may not bother with that, just sleep in the
truck seat and put the food basket in the back seat. If I went to a
multi-day though and knew *ahead of time* that there was room to turn the
gooseneck around (I'm not much with mirrors) I would borrow my neice's
trailer which is like yours, a 3 horse slant with a mattress and table. I
recommend a good ladder to get in the gooseneck. It gets harder and
harder to get back up there. :-)

Angie
